March 21st is a perfect birthday...

...or at least this little girl thought so.

Sorry the blog has been neglected this week. I've just been enjoying pinching little cheeks and cooing at this little face.

I'll be back to regular life soon!

easy DIY cake stand ruffle

Looking for a way to add a little fancy to your party? Or maybe looking for a way to make your traditional cake stand look a little different for this party? This easy cake stand ruffle is a great way to add some color and fun to a cheap (cough, cough... very cheap) grocery store cake stand.

First, pull out that crepe paper left overs, or any crepe paper streamer and sew a stitch through it about a third of the way from one side to gather your crepe paper.

Next, all I did was used double sided clear tape to easily just tape the crepe paper around the edge of my cake stand. The double sided tape makes for an easy clean up, and won't harm your cake stand - hooray!

You can leave your cake stand as is, or you can add some ribbon around the edges. I found that adding the ribbon helped straighten my crepe paper out (it was kind of uneven left alone) and added a fun two toned color combination! Have fun!

Ice Cream Social - Games

Games are so important to any child's party! Sometimes they are hard to come up with, and easy to overlook. I've come up with two activities that should help bring some fun into your Ice Cream party.

Ice Cream Cone Relay

Place a ball (aka "ice cream scoop") on top of an ice cream cone. Just like in an egg on the spoon relay, have the kids line up in to two teams. They then race each other to see which team can have each team member quickly carry their scoop of "ice cream" down the race course and back to their team without dropping their "ice cream scoop". If someone does drop their "ice cream", they must go back to the start of the relay and try again.

Ice Cream Recipe

Let the kids get creative with this activity! Prep all your ingredients before hand, but then let the kids write out their own ice cream flavor recipe. There is bound to be some funny combinations, and tasty ideas thought of. Let the kids name their creations and take the recipe card home their new favorite sundae recipe to share.

Ice Cream Social Printables will be available on the blog on Friday

Ice Cream Social - Invitation

This week, I am featuring an Ice Cream Social party!
All the planning included.

First, I am starting off our week with featuring the invitation. The Ice Cream Social printable will be available to download for free at the end of the week. But instead of just having a printable, I decided to add a fun playful element to the invitation.

You print off the invitation on regular cardstock. You will also need to print out the template page, but you print that on a vellum or transparent paper. Cut out the template ice cream scoop.

Next, top your invitation ice cream with the toppings.  I used red glitter, white confetti, and little silver scrapbooking embellishments. Place all your toppings in the center of your ice cream scoop on your invitation.

You then glue the vellum/transparent ice cream scoop on top of your invitation. Be sure to only glue along the outside edges, and do not shake or move your invitation until your glue has dried.

The end result is a pocket full of toppings on top of your ice cream invitation! The kids will love it!

DIY paper pom poms

These fun paper pom poms are a great way to accent your more expensive or elaborate party decorations. They go together very easily and add a lot of detail to your event!

What you will need:
5 circles of the same size cut from cardstock
string
stapler

How to:
First, stack your circles and lay the string down across the top. Staple in the middle of your paper, over the string as well as through all 5 layers of cardstock. Secure your string by double knotting it over the staple.

Then, you easily just fan out your cardstock - some of the circles bent up, and some bent down. Play around with it a little until it looks just right.

This is a great way to add some color, volume, and height to your decorations. They would also look great with some Tissue Balls from Confetti Sunshine!
