Premier League

It is fair to say that Liverpool have absolutely destroyed the Premier League this season and being 14 points clear by the end of December is incredible. At the beginning of the season my buddy Marc Leder and I did some predictions about where we thought each team would finish, and as ever Marc was right on it and said this Liverpool team would win it at a canter. It is fair to say that Manchester City will finish in the top, barring some kind of illness breaking out, but what about the other 2 positions? Let’s take a look.

Leicester

Prior to Christmas it looked like Brendan Rodger’s team were going to perform another miracle and challenge Liverpool to the title. However with losses to both Liverpool and Manchester City, that expectation has slightly ebbed away. They are currently 11 points clear of 5th place which should really make them a shoe-in for top 4. The issue they do have is a small squad and a massive reliance on Jamie Vardy, Leicester should finish top 4, but it is far from nailed on.

Manchester United

Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are tough to predict, some games they look to be absolutely incredible, then the next they flounder. Ole is putting a lot of faith in youth to help them get through the fixture pile up and so far it seems to be working out for him. The challenge that United have to face is Europa League football, which could have an impact on their league form. We believe United will just fall short this season, owing to defeats against their top 4 rivals.

Tottenham

Spurs have been used to finishing in the top 4 for 5 years now, but this year will prove to be their biggest test. Spurs replaced Pochettino with Mourinho and there is no doubt that his mandate will be to get them into the top 4. Spurs have had 2 opportunities in the last 2 games to jump into fourth spot, but losing to Chelsea and a draw at Norwich leaves them 5 points adrift. Under Mourinho however, you have to feel that this Spurs side will get back to winning ways, and we fancy them to sneak in at the last minute.

Chelsea

Much like this Manchester United team, Chelsea are very erratic at the moment and they have to find consistency if they want to finish in the Champions League spots. The kids are doing well so far but the season is long and arduous and for us, we think Chelsea may just falter in the last 10 games of the season. A fifth place finish would still be a great result for Frank Lampard.

Wolves

A final note on Wolves who are playing some brilliant football and digging out result after result. They will be aiming for top 4, but with Europa League games on a Thursday night, we just don’t think that the side from the Black Country can keep the form up until the season is over.

There we have it then, City, Leicester and Spurs making up the final 3 spots behind Liverpool, what do you think will happen?
